As technical, organizational and creative service providers, specialists for event technology realize events of all kinds. They plan and organize events according to design, economic, technical and organizational aspects. They observe the regulations for places of assembly, fire protection and occupational safety. They select, set up and operate event technology equipment and systems. They use the event technology in the course of the event from a design point of view. They are available as contact persons and advisors for their customers. (IHK Rheinhessen)

Personal requirements:
- Musical knowledge and interest in cultural events are an advantage
- Creative talent in dealing with image and sound products
- Technical understanding and interest
- An interest in technology and a basic understanding of technical processes are important, as the work often involves complex devices and systems.
- Full hearing ability
- Willingness to be physically involved in setting up and dismantling event technology
- Flexibilität und Belastbarkeit
- Events can be stressful, so you should be able to stay calm and focused under pressure. You should also be prepared to work different hours (evenings, weekends).
These personal requirements help to ensure that trainees are successful during their training as an Event Technician so that they can later work effectively in their profession.

- Training usually begins on 01.08.
- A shortening is possible under certain conditions
- The working time is 39 hours a week
- There is an annual vacation entitlement of 30 workdays
since 01.02.2025:
- 1,236.82 euros in the first year of training
- 1,290.96 euros in the second year of training
- 1,340.61 euros in the third year of training
Special annual payment on December 1st in the amount of 95% of the vocational training remuneration
Final examination bonus of € 400.00 for successfully passing the final examination on the first attempt

- Occupation-specific subjects: e.g. set up and dismantle technical event and production systems and structures; plan, commission and document media technology systems
Practical training takes place at the Mainz School of Music (Hochschule für Musik) also in cooperation with other institutions of the university.
