Personal requirements:

  • Interest in natural sciences
    • A basic interest in chemistry and other natural sciences is crucial. The training covers many theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry.
  • Genauigkeit & Sorgfalt
    • Precision is of the utmost importance in a laboratory. Chemical laboratory technicians must work carefully to achieve accurate results and avoid errors. This applies to both the execution of experiments and the documentation of results.
  • Skill and a sense of responsibility
    • Handling chemicals requires a high degree of responsibility with regard to safety and health protection. Chemical laboratory technicians must be aware of the risks and always comply with the applicable safety regulations.
  • Analytical thinking
    • Chemical laboratory technicians must be able to analyze complex problems and systematically find solutions. Good analytical thinking skills help to plan experiments and interpret results correctly.

These personal requirements help to ensure that trainees are successful during their training as a chemical laboratory technician so that they can later work effectively in their profession.

  • 3,5 years
  • Training usually begins on 01.08.
  • A shortening is possible under certain conditions
  • The working time is 39 hours a week
  • There is an annual vacation entitlement of 30 workdays

since 01.02.2025:

  • 1,236.82 euros in the first year of training
  • 1,290.96 euros in the second year of training
  • 1,340.61 euros in the third year of training
  • 1,409.51 euros in the fourth year of training

Special annual payment on December 1st in the amount of 95% of the vocational training remuneration

Final examination bonus of € 400.00 for successfully passing the final examination on the first attempt

  • General education subjects: e.g. Chemistry, Technical Mathematics as well as Economics and Social Studies
  • Occupation-specific subjects: e.g. photometric and chromatographic analysis of substances, determination of material properties

The practical training takes place alternately in an independent training laboratory and in research laboratories of the Department of Chemistry.
All the necessary skills and knowledge are taught.
